Yulia and Ken are a sweet, mischievous couple, who after ten years of adventures together decided to tie the knot. Their idea was to have an intimate celebration with their family and close friends, but not tell them till they arrived at the venue, which was also a secret, what the celebration was for. Invites were sent out, but the invites were scant with details. The only information the invites revealed, were the date the event was to take place and the place where all the guests should meet on the day.
I met Yulia and Ken in the morning of their big day and we spent some time alone with them before the guests were due to arrive taking photos around Luna Park and Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden. We then headed back to Circular Quay to meet the guests and take them on a cruise to the unknown.
We arrived at Cockatoo Island, a very cool location and Yulia and Ken lead their guests on a tour till will arrived at Biloela House, a lovely sandstone 1800’s cottage that sits on the cliffs with spectacular sweeping harbour views. Yulia and Ken gathered everyone around and announced they were getting married. Excited guests grabbed a champagne and mingled while Yulia changed her outfit and Ken freshened up.
The ceremony took place under a beautiful Jacaranda tree, were the bride and groom exchanged beautiful personal handwritten vows. As the sun set we ducked off for a few more photos around Cockatoo Island.
Dinner was served, speeches were given and the sweet soiree was the perfect surprise wedding that Yulia and Ken had dreamed of.
