Jakki + Josh

Wedding Photography

Jakki & Josh travelled to The Village Coconut Island Resort, Thailand, to get married and lucky me got to tag along with cameras in tow…

It was a big family gathering, with people coming from Bega, Africa, the UK, from all over the place to unite for the celebration. By the time the wedding came around they had been holidaying together and catching up for days, so were well and truly in relaxed mode with their tanned bodies and happy-go-lucky stride.

I spent the day with Jakki and the girls capturing them getting ready and watching the transformation of the venue. The staff on the island came together working hard to bring a wedding venue to life. And that they did. The tables were set scattered along the lawn with the ocean as the backdrop and they were dressed with the most magnificent orchids. It really was a tropical island paradise. Jakki spent time project managing on and off right up until the final hour. But still she remained cool, calm and collected. I was quite impressed!

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when Jakki had described her dress to me, “Its pink and huge”. I had the completely wrong picture in my mind. She wore a stunning Halo bridal gown, it was perfect for her and she looked absolutely amazing.

The weather was sweltering, it was above 40 degrees everyday, so the ceremony took place at dusk when it was slightly cooler. The guests had gathered on the lawn and Jakki could see them waiting as her hair and makeup got one last touch up. You could feel the excitement in the air. The sun set behind Jakki and Josh as they shared their vows. The light was warm, soft and peachy. The ocean smelt salty, the palm trees became silhouettes and the guests filled the stillness with laughter and cheer.

Everyone dined alfresco under the starlit sky and drank cocktails by the poolside. Jakki and Josh put on a fireworks display as a surprise for their guests, which marked the beginning of the party. DJ Tank lifted the vibe getting everyone on the dance floor. A few cocktails later and a few more again, Josh stripped off and took the party into the pool. The young and old followed and soon there were only a few dry folk left chatting over tea and cake whilst everyone else kept dancing in the water.

It was a day of beauty, love and adventure. Everyone definitely had fun!

Thanks for taking me to Thailand to capture your special day Jakki & Josh. It was simply beautiful! x
