Bernadette + Brendan

Wedding Photography

By the time I met Bernadette and Brendan, I had photographed several of their friends weddings. When we sat and chatted at their home, I was having flashbacks of what she was wearing at Daniela’s wedding. It was all falling into place. Bernadette and Brendan had their ceremony at Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden, in Lavender Bay. It’s such a lovely, peaceful place, a real sanctuary. I give kudos to Wendy for her creative prowess.

It was damn hot that summers day and funnily enough both Bernadette and I were newly pregnant, not feeling the best and kept this to ourselves. We only discovered this about the other months later. You would never have known she was suffering with morning sickness by looking at her, she looked simply stunning. I arrived early so I could capture Brendan and the guests arriving. It was lovely watching people arriving coming down the steps and excitedly greeting Brendan on the sunken lawn. Bernadette arrived on the other side of Clark Park and made her way across the park and then down the hill, making a grand entrance. Brendan’s face was beaming with adoration  as he watched Bernadette and when they met at the end of the isle love was oozing from the both of them. It was a very beautiful moment.

Bernadette and Brendan chose to only have their family and a few close friends their to witness the vows. They wanted an intimate occasion, leaving the reception to party with their extended friends and loved ones. It made for a very sweet wedding.

The wedding guests made their way by boat on the harbour to The Quay Grand to begin the celebrations. We stayed behind and explored the paths of the Secret Garden and the foreshore of Lavender Bay. It’s the perfect location, taking a lovely stroll and snapping photos along the way. It’s a real adventure.

The ECQ Bar at the Quay Grand is quite a setting for a party. Watching the sun fade away over the harbour as the city lights come into effect, with the Harbour Bridge and Opera House taking centre stage. All the while sipping and nibbling away as happy times are shared.

The day was just as Bernadette & Brendan had planned. An intimate, beautiful summer, Sydney harbour wedding. Perfect!
